Meaningful Conversations

If you follow us on any social media you are probably aware that Minga is a big supporter of student voice and an advocate for meaningful conversations. Minga strives to create a safe space for students to talk about REAL issues as well as serious, current, relevant topics.

We want to offer students the opportunity to discuss their views on important topics such as mental health, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQIA+ rights, climate change, social issues, and more. These conversations were difficult to foster and mediate before today, and may not be something that all educators feel comfortable monitoring. However, these topics need to be discussed to decrease the stigma surrounding them and educate our next generation on empathy and debate.

Minga is able to monitor these conversations and flag and remove comments that are hateful or inappropriate. Although Minga is an extracurricular app you can utilize it to ask your students to start a conversation, and then call back to it the next day in class and address any conflicts or disagreements in an educational way.

Minga believes students benefit from open conversation about serious or even emotional issues, but we also know that it’s not always fair to expect educators to be fully willing to organize these topics and stay grounded during them. Teachers have lives too, that’s why Minga wanted to create a Safe Space with monitored anti-bullying technology that can help take some weight off educators.
